Technically, all architectural LED lights can be divided into two groups. The first is low-voltage devices (12-24 Volts). The advantage of such a lamp is the absence of a power source inside the housing – the most unreliable element. Such devices are characterized by a long service life. If you turn on the device every day for 8 hours, it can last for 15 years or more-until the complete degradation of the LED chips.
According to statistics, more than 60% of failures of LED lighting equipment in Russia are due to the failure of the power source. If LEDs have a really huge resource of 50-80 thousand hours, then the electrolytic capacitors contained in power sources usually have a resource of 10-30 thousand hours. Accordingly, the disadvantage of a low-voltage lamp is the need to place the power source on the facade or inside the room, which is often impossible.
Lamps with a mains supply of 220 Volts are convenient to install and practical, but preference should be given to products with high-quality power sources and a warranty period of at least 3 years. Connecting them to a standard 220V network without additional devices allows you to replace even standard lamps with LED lighting. We strongly recommend that you install differential automata in the power supply chain of LED lamps that are protected from zero breakage. Since it is often impossible to correctly diagnose the cause of a power supply failure, when warranty cases occur, sellers usually refer to an increased voltage in the network.
The class of dust and moisture protection of a high-quality architectural lamp must be at least IP66. LEDs are very sensitive to humidity, as the soldering points of the LED to the board can corrode and the LED housing itself is not sealed. To avoid the effects of condensation, the device body must also meet the standards when operating in areas with sudden temperature changes.
